Most people who want to read more already have the time. It is just scattered: ten minutes on a bus, five in a queue, twenty before sleep. The phone wins those minutes because it is already in your hand.
Put the book where the minutes are
Keep the book you are reading on your phone, next to the apps you open without thinking. An ebook reader app on your home screen does more for your reading than any challenge or goal.
Lower the bar
Decide that one page counts. On most days you will read more than one, because starting is the hard part. On busy days, one page keeps the thread of the story alive.
Read two books at once
Keep one easy book and one demanding one. When you are tired, read the easy one instead of switching to something else entirely.
Stop books you don't enjoy
Finishing a book you dislike costs you the books you would have loved. Give a book fifty pages. If it still feels like homework, put it down without guilt.
